Image Upscaler

Upscale images 2×, 3×, 4×, 5×, or 6× with high-quality browser-based resizing. No uploads required.

Your images are upscaled entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Upload Images to Upscale

Drag and drop images here, or click to browse. Max safe dimensions apply.

Free Image Upscaler

When working with digital assets, you often receive images that are just slightly too small for their intended use. Our Free Image Upscaler solves this by enlarging your photos, graphics, and UI elements up to 6× their original size directly in your browser.

Rather than using basic nearest-neighbor scaling (which creates blocky, pixelated edges) or unreliable generative AI (which can hallucinate strange artifacts), we rely on advanced Lanczos mathematical resampling. This calculates smooth, precise transitions between pixels to provide the highest possible quality for standard image enlargement.

Key Features

Local Processing

Powered by modern browser Canvas technology and WebAssembly, your files are upscaled entirely on your device. Absolutely no images are uploaded to any server, guaranteeing 100% privacy.

Up to 6× Scaling

Choose between 2×, 3×, 4×, 5×, and 6× magnification. Whether you are generating Retina (@2x) UI assets or blowing up a small photo, you have total control over the output size.

Batch Workflows

Drag and drop dozens of images at once. The upscaler sequentially processes them without freezing your browser, and lets you download them all in a single click.

Format Conversion

Keep the output format identical to the original file, or effortlessly convert it to PNG, JPEG, WebP, or AVIF on the fly during the upscaling process.

How to Upscale Images

  1. Upload Images: Drag and drop your PNG, JPEG, WebP, or AVIF files into the upload zone.
  2. Auto-Processing: Your images will automatically be upscaled by 2× immediately after uploading.
  3. Adjust Settings (Optional): If you need a larger size, select 3×, 4×, 5×, or 6× from the dropdown. The image will automatically re-process.
  4. Compare: Click the "Compare" button to open the fullscreen slider and visually inspect the crispness of the upscaled image against the original.
  5. Download: Save individual images or click "Download All" to save your batch workflow instantly.

Best Practices for Upscaling

  • Avoid Over-stretching: A small icon (32×32) upscaled by 6× (192×192) will look decent, but upscaling a huge photo by 6× will likely just create a blurry, unnecessarily massive file. Upscale only exactly what you need.
  • Browser Memory Limits: Browsers have a hard limit on how many pixels they can allocate in a Canvas element before crashing (usually around a 4K resolution texture). We automatically block scaling operations that exceed a safe 16-megapixel limit to keep your session stable.
  • Vector vs Raster: If you are trying to upscale an SVG file, you don't need this tool! SVGs are infinite resolution. Use our SVG Optimizer instead if you want to prepare it for production.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this an AI Super-Resolution tool?

No. This tool uses advanced mathematical resampling (Lanczos interpolation via Pica) rather than generative AI. Generative AI tools guess and hallucinate missing details (which can lead to weird artifacts like extra fingers in photos or scrambled text). Our tool provides reliable, artifact-free, broadcast-quality scaling that exactly mirrors the original image without inventing new data.

Can I specify custom pixel dimensions?

If you need to resize an image to a precise, custom dimension (like exactly 800×600), please use our dedicated Image Resizer tool. The Upscaler is designed specifically for quick multiplier-based enlargements.

Are my images safe?

Yes. Since we leverage WebAssembly and the HTML5 Canvas API, 100% of the pixel crunching happens in your browser's local memory. Your images never leave your computer, making this tool completely secure for sensitive, unreleased, or personal assets.
